After winning the Asia Cup 2025 title, the Indian team is preparing for its next series (IND vs WI). Team India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets in the Asia Cup final on Sunday. However, Mohsin Naqvi sent the tournament trophy back after learning that Team India did not want to accept it from him. Meanwhile, former cricketers Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Younis have revealed what they would have done if Pakistan had won the final.
India and Pakistan played three matches in the Asia Cup 2025, including the final. In the first match, Suryakumar Yadav and his team refused to shake hands with Pakistani players, angering the PCB and its team. In the Super Four, their players engaged in shameful acts on the field, apparently to provoke Team India. After winning the final, Suryakumar Yadav announced that he was donating his fees from all seven matches played in the tournament to the Indian Army.
What would Pakistan have done if Team India had lost?
Before the final, former Pakistan captains Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Younis revealed what they would do if Pakistan defeated India in the final. They stated that if that happened, the Pakistani team would dedicate the victory to the Pakistan Air Force. Afridi also revealed that he himself had proposed this idea to the Pakistani players.
However, Pakistan’s dream of dedicating their victory to their army or air force remained unfulfilled. It’s worth noting that after defeating Pakistan in the group stage, Suryakumar Yadav dedicated the victory to the Indian Armed Forces and the Pahalgam victims, prompting the PCB to report him to the ICC.

Although Pakistan put up a strong fight in the Asia Cup final, chasing a target of 147, India’s top three wickets fell for just 20 runs after a 57-run partnership between Tilak Verma and Sanju Samson. Sanju was dismissed for 24, and Tilak then shared a 60-run partnership with Shivam Dubey.
Dubey was dismissed on the last ball of the 19th over. India needed 10 runs to win from the final over. Tilak Varma hit a six off the last ball of Haris Rauf’s over, and Rinku Singh hit the winning shot off the fourth ball to take India to the final by 5 wickets. Tilak Varma scored an unbeaten 69, for which he was named Player of the Match.
