VIDEO: Major action taken in Sambhal, bulldozer running on illegal construction on the day of Ravana Dahan

The administration in Sambhal district is once again cracking down on illegal constructions, especially on the day of Ravana Dahan. A heavy police force has been deployed for this purpose. The action began on Thursday after an order was issued to demolish a mosque and a marriage home illegally built on pond land. This major action is taking place in Raya Buzurg village of Sambhal.

According to the administration, these illegal constructions were built on government pond land. The action, which began at 11 am on Thursday, is still ongoing. The administration is fully prepared to maintain law and order. Several companies of paramilitary forces and police were present at the scene during the action.

The SDM stated that a case was registered under Section 68 of the UAPA by issuing a notice on June 26, 2025. The order was issued on September 2, 2025. There are two government plots here, one of which is plot number 691, which is a pond area, with a total area of 2160 square meters. The second plot, number 469, measures 592 square meters. One plot contains a marriage hall and the other a mosque.

Action was taken as per the order. A formal legal notice was issued and an objection was filed in the court, following which the order was issued. These constructions took place at least 10-15 years ago. Both were built by a man named Minjar.

Meanwhile, Minjar explained, “The marriage hall is very old. It was previously vacant, but gradually, as money and footfall increased, we rebuilt it. The mosque isn’t that old; it was built by our elders. We live outside and drive, so we weren’t aware of it.” But the notice was issued in my name.”

Mosque Committee Seeks Relief for Mosque

The mosque’s management committee has requested a four-day extension from the district administration, requesting a halt to the demolition. The administration has granted the extension, and the mosque’s management committee will demolish the mosque within four days. According to reports, the district administration demolished the marriage hall with a bulldozer and will now demolish the mosque itself. If this does not happen, the administration may take further action.
